The Ved

Storybook summers brought to life‍

Nestled in the foothills of Mussoorie, created by the founder of New Delhi’s Virohaa – The Ved is a luxury home-stay that transports one back to a different place in time.

Before it was called The Ved, however; it was our untitled brand and visual identity project. The founder reached out to us to craft a distinctive brand strategy and visual identity for the brand that would bring a warm, cosy feel, reminiscent of the feel of a grandparent’s house,  since that is what this Colonial-era property was to him.

Across multiple discovery sessions, we got to know how much the home meant to the founder and his entire family, and took it upon ourselves to do true justice to the memories the family had with this property. After a deep dive into the category and competition, we nostalgia-inducing stance of how this property was reimagining the same sentiment Indians felt when they went on vacation to a grandparent’s home – reimagining that storybook once upon a time where everything was rose-tinted and soft.

As an homage to the founder’s family, we also suggested the name ‘The Ved’, inspired by his grandparents, and then got down to crafting the visual identity for the brand. While the brief was to create something luxurious and timeless, we didn’t want the feeling we were trying to evoke get lost – which is why we created a custom wordmark that was as emotive as it was premium, and used touchpoints from the area around the property, from the trees that were planted by the founder’s grandfather, to the flowers that were omnipresent in the home, as a basis for our visual language. We used a rich, forest green as our hero colour and balanced it with a rich gold, to create a colour palette that felt visually striking and premium, while working well with the wood textures in the home.

We translated this visual identity into all touchpoints in this homestay, to recreate the same magic of being taken care of.
